Terms of Service
These terms apply to your use of AI Conflux (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What AI Conflux is
AI Conflux is an academic project, built as a course project, that lets you chat with third-party AI models (Google Gemini, OpenAI and Anthropic Claude) from one interface. It is provided free of charge, as a demonstration, and is not a commercial product. AI Conflux does not provide AI access by itself — it relays your messages to the provider you select, using your own API key.
2. Your account
- You sign up with a username and password. We store only a salted hash of your password, never the password itself.
- We cannot recover a lost password. The Service does not collect email addresses, so there is no reset-by-email. Keep your credentials safe.
- You are responsible for activity under your account, and you must be legally able to accept these terms and the terms of any AI provider you use.
3. Your API keys - BYOK("bring your own key")
- You supply your own API keys — you can save several per provider and choose which one each message uses. Keys are encrypted (AES-GCM) before they are stored, are never shown back to you after saving, and are used only to send your own requests.
- Any charges, quotas or rate limits on your provider account are your responsibility. Some providers bill per use; check your provider's pricing before adding a key.
- You can rename, replace or remove a saved key at any time in Settings. When removing a key you can also delete the conversations that used it.
4. Third-party AI providers
- When you send a message, that message and the earlier messages of the same conversation are sent to the provider you selected (Google, OpenAI or Anthropic) so it can generate a reply.
- The provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to that data — including any rules about how they may use content. Some providers handle data from free tiers differently from paid tiers (for example, using it to improve their products). Review your provider's terms before sending personal or sensitive information.
- AI Conflux is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Google, OpenAI or Anthropic.
5. What we store
- Your username, password hash, the version and date of these terms you accepted, your encrypted API keys with the names you gave them, and your conversation history (messages, titles, timestamps, and which of your keys each conversation used).
- One session cookie (HttpOnly, valid for 7 days) to keep you logged in. In your browser's local storage: your light/dark theme choice, which key you last picked per provider, and the last usage-limit information each provider reported for your keys. That last item is cleared when you log out.
- No ads, no analytics scripts, and no selling of data. The Service is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests as part of hosting it.
6. Deleting your data
- Deleting a conversation from the sidebar permanently removes its full history from our storage. There is no separate copy kept on the AI provider's side by AI Conflux, though providers may keep their own records under their terms.
- Removing a key in Settings deletes the stored encrypted key, and — if you choose — the conversations that used it.
- Deleting your account (Settings → Account, confirmed with your password) immediately and permanently deletes your account, all saved keys and all conversations from our storage, and signs you out on every device.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to break the law, to harass or harm others, to generate content that violates your AI provider's usage policies, to attempt to access other users' data, or to probe, overload or disrupt the Service (including automated or bulk requests).
8. AI output
Replies are generated by third-party AI models and may be wrong, incomplete or outdated. They are not professional (legal, medical, financial or other) advice. Check important information yourself before relying on it.
9. No warranty and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. It runs on free-tier hosting with daily usage limits, so it may be slow, temporarily unavailable, or lose data. Keep your own copy of anything important. To the extent allowed by law, the project team is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service, including charges on your AI provider account.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date and version at the top of this page will change when we do, and for material changes we may ask you to accept the new version. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept it.
